摘要

Abstract

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are becoming indispensable tools for a plethora of applications,including architecture,design,and construction.In these fields in particular,models capable of generating content are emerging as a valuable support to human users,allowing for the rapid creation of innovative forms as well as wide and easy sharing of ideas,knowledge,and methods.Remarkably,generative models can also enable holistic design approaches that account for a number of relevant aspects such as material selection and climate adaptability.Nevertheless,the use of such models,along with prompt engineering and large language models for a smooth interface with human users,poses significant challenges in terms of sustainability,user data privacy,and security,just to name a few.This paper therefore discusses not only the benefits of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the fields of architecture,design,and construction,but also current and future research challenges that arise in the field of engineering.
