摘要
Abstract
Aerial cutaway view of the Bank of England from the south-east was created by the painter Joseph Gandy, and commissioned by John Soane. The Bank of England was the most important work in the architect's life. Why did John Soane present the soon-to-be-built works as ruins? How to recognise such images in a holistic context? From the perspectives of"ruins imagery"and"design revolution",this paper discusses the era in which Soane lived and the correlation between Soane's own design thinking and the image, revealing the intellectual context and design thinking issues behind the image.关键词
