Abstract
Objective:To analyze the essence and influencing factors of fear of falling in the elderly in China from the perspective of the elderly themselves.Methods:Objective sampling method was adopted to conduct semi-structured interviews with 15 elderly people from a community in Xinxiang city,Henan province from March to April 2023.Nvivo 20 software was used to organize the interview data.Based on the basic steps of grounded theory,the interview data were analyzed from the bottom up.Results:A total of six themes were extracted:individual behavior choice,motivational effort,cognitive process,emotional process,influence on normal life,family and social support.And a mechanism model for fear of falling in the elderly was generated on this basis.Conclusions:The mechanism of fear of falling in the elderly was complex.According to the multi-dimensional needs of the elderly,comprehensive and multidisciplinary health guidance should be carried out.Predictive psychological intervention should be implemented to promote the psychosocial adaptation of the elderly,to improve the quality of life,and to reduce the fear of falling.关键词
