摘要

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the distribution patterns of odor gases in a low profile cross ventilated(LPCV)dairy cattle barn,accommodating 2 400 dairy cows in Huai'an City,Jiangsu Province,during the summer months.The research involved continuous monitoring of odor gas concentrations(odor unit,OU)and key odor substances using an odor gas analyzer to explore the temporal and spatial distribu-tion variations.Additionally,a correlation analysis was carried out between each component of odorous gas and environmental factors,inclu-ding temperature(T),relative humidity(RH),and wind speed.The results showed that the temperature at detection point 9(located at the middle of the feeding channel near the fan end)was significantly higher than that at the other detection points within the cowshed(P<0.05).Similarly,RH was significantly lower at this point,compared with the others(P<0.05).The temperature-humidity index(THI)within the enclosure ranged from 78 to 80.5,with no significant differences observed among the detection points(P>0.05).Furthermore,the wind speed at detection point 8(positioned near the door of the fan side aisle)reached(3.17±0.10)m/s,significantly exceeding the wind speeds recorded at the other locations(P<0.05).The distribution of fine particulate matter(PM2.5)concentrations remained relatively stable across the detection points,with no significant differences(P>0.05).The OU values exhibited a differential distribution throughout the cowshed,ranging from the highest at the manure outlet end to the lowest at the wet curtain end.Over the course of the day,T and THI gradually increased from 4:00 to 15:00 before decreasing,whereas RH exhibited an inverse trend.Particulate concentrations remained stable,with the peak wind speeds occurring at 16:00 and the lowest speeds at 4:00 and 20:00.The OU values was the lowest at 0:00 and the highest recorded at 4:00,16:00,and 20:00.Among the odorous gas components,the concentrations of dimethyl sulfide(C2H6S),dimethyl disulfide(C2H6S2),methyl mercaptan(CH4S),and styrene(C8H8)were notably higher at 4:00,12:00,and 20:00,compared with 0:00,8:00,and 16:00.Additionally,the ammonia(NH3)and trimethylamine(C3H9N)concentrations peak-ed at 0:00,and then gradually declined until 16:00,before increasing again at 20:00.The concentrations of carbon disulfide(CS2)and hydrogen sulfide(H2S)remained relatively stable.A Spearman correlation analysis conducted on the OU values and environmental parame-ters revealed significant negative correlations with RH and significant positive correlations with wind speed within the cowshed.Based on the above research,it can be seen that the odor concentrations at detection points 1,4,7,and 8 in the LPCV cowshed are higher than those at the other detection points.At 20:00,OU and its components are at a higher daily concentration,which suggests that subsequent odor treat-ment requires greater attention to the control of this location and the time.
