Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the potential effects of Enterococcus faecium Kimate-X on the growth and development,hemato-logical parameters,immunological indicators,gut microbiota structure,and metabolic functions in Beagle puppies.A total of 16 two-month-old Beagle puppies were used and randomly divided into the control group and the probiotic group,with eight puppies in each group.The pro-biotic group received Enterococcus faecium Kimate-X supplementation in their basal diet,while the control group was fed with the basal diet alone.Then,a comprehensive assessment was conducted through measurements of body weight,height,and length,as well as hematologi-cal,immunological,and metagenomic analyses.The results showed that Enterococcus faecium Kimate-X significantly promoted the body weight gain(P<0.01)and body length development(P<0.05)of the puppies.Additionally,it increased the red blood cell count and he-moglobin concentration in their hematological parameters(P<0.05).The blood biochemical analysis of the blood samples revealed that the high-density lipoprotein(HDL)levels were elevated in the Enterococcus faecium Kimate-X group(P<0.05).The immunological tests showed that Enterococcusfaecium Kimate-X enhanced the immunoglobulin G(IgG)levels(P<0.05)in the animals,thereby boosting their immune function.The metagenomic analysis revealed that Enterococcus faecium Kimate-X could modulate the gut microbiota composition in the puppies,significantly increasing the abundance of the beneficial bacterium Ligilactobacillus saerimneri and effectively reducing the relative abundance of potential pathogens such as Escherichia coli in them.The functional annotation analysis further showed that Enterococcus faecium Kimate-X could enhance the DNA repair capability of the gut microbiota of the puppies and promote the improvement of their energy metabolism functions.In conclusion,Enterococcus faecium Kimate-X had significant positive effects on the growth and development and im-mune function of Beagle puppies and effectively regulated their gut microbiota and metabolic functions,promising good application prospects.关键词
