How Does Social Media Addiction Induce Academic Burnout?An Explanation Based on Self-harmony and Core Self-evaluation

Abstract
Objective:This study aims to explore the relationships and underlying mechanisms between social media ad-diction and academic burnout.Methods:A total of 493 university students were surveyed using questionnaires about social media addiction,self-harmony,core self-evaluation,and academic burnout.Results:①Social media addiction was signifi-cantly negatively correlated with self-harmony and core self-evaluation,and significantly positively correlated with aca-demic burnout;Self-harmony was significantly positively correlated with core self-evaluation,while both the two were sig-nificantly negatively correlated with academic burnout.②Social media addiction positively predicted academic burnout.(3)This direct path could be mediated by self-harmony and core self-evaluation independently.④The sequential mediation of self-harmony→core self-evaluation was also significant.Conclusion:Social media addiction can lead to academic burnout by reducing college students'self-harmony and core self-evaluation level.关键词
