Item Analysis on the Borderline Personality Disorder Subscale of Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire-Fourth Edition Plus:Based on Item Response Theory

Abstract
Objective:This study aims to assess the psychometric properties of the borderline personality disorder sub-scale of personality diagnostic questionnaire-fourth edition plus(PDQ-4+-BPD subscale)by conducting item and ROC analysis on its nine items.Methods:Sample 1(1135 patients with psychiatric disorders and 789 college students)and sample 2(137 patients with borderline personality disorder and 161 healthy controls)both completed the BPD subscale of PDQ-4+.Mirt package for the R environment was performed for item analysis,and pROC package was performed for ROC analysis.Results:(1)The discrimination parameters(a)of the 9 items ranged from 0.93 to 2.88.The difficulty parameters(b)of the 9 items ranged from-1.02 to 1.83.(2)The mean values of item information of the 9 items ranged from 0.11 to 0.36,whereas the maximum value of test information was 5.20.(3)The optimal cut-off score of the PDQ-4+-BPD subscale was 4.5,with the specificity 0.888 and the area under the curve 0.958.Conclusion:The BPD subscale of PDQ-4+has good item discrimination,moderate difficulty and efficient cut-off.It also shows good accuracy for individuals with moder-ate borderline trait level,which makes it suitable for clinical screening.关键词
