Abstract
Objective To investigate the attitudes of undergraduate nursing interns towards death and hospice care,and to analyze the factors affecting their attitudes towards hospice care,as well as the correlation between the two attitudes.Methods A total of 191 undergraduate nursing interns who worked at Shenzhen Second People's Hospital from July 2022 to June 2023 were selected as the study subjects.The study was conducted using the general information questionnaire,the Chinese version of the Death Attitude Profile-Revised,and the Chinese version of the Frommelt Attitude Toward Care of the Dying Scale.Multiple linear regression analysis was used to summarize the factors affecting attitudes of undergraduate nursing interns towards hospice care,and Pearson correlation analysis was used to explore the correlation between death attitudes and hospice care attitudes.Results The total score of hospice care attitudes of undergraduate nursing interns was 93.02±8.43 points.The mean scores for each dimension of death attitudes,ranging from high to low,were as follows:neutral acceptance 3.86±0.81 points,fear of death 3.27±0.99 points,escape acceptance 3.27±0.95 points,death avoidance 3.26±0.96 points,and approach acceptance 3.14±0.94 points.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that willingness to care for terminally ill patients and previous educational experiences related to hospice care were both influencing factors of the hospice care attitudes in undergraduate nursing interns(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis demonstrated a certain correlation between hospice care attitudes and various dimensions of death attitudes(r=-0.385～0.208,P<0.05).Conclusion Undergraduate nursing interns have relatively positive attitudes towards death and tend to adopt neutral acceptance,while their enthusiasm concerning attitudes towards hospice care is at a moderate level and still needs to be improved.The correlation between them suggests that universities and hospitals should strengthen the relevant education on death and hospice care when cultivating undergraduate nursing interns.关键词
