Abstract

With the expansion of high-speed railway networks and the commercial operation of more than ten years,the hazard of rail superficial flaws has gradually emerged,and the development of rail superficial flaws would seriously affect the safety of trains.Current evaluation methods for rail shallow-surface flaws are relatively simple,and the accuracy of classification evaluation of rail shallow surface flaws is low.More accurate grading evaluation results are needed to guide the maintenance and repair of the railway lines for the shallow surface flaws that are widely distributed.This study utilized China's self-developed comprehensive rail inspection vehicle,which integrates ultrasonic,magnetic flux leakage,and image detection principles.The characteristics of each detection data were analyzed.An evaluation index of rail superficial flaws that can represent the length,width,and severity of the damage was presented.According to the characteristics of many factors affecting the rapid detection data,the shallow surface flaw evaluation model of high-speed rails was established by using the weight method,integrating evaluation indices from ultrasonic,magnetic flux leakage,and image detection data.Considering the diverse influencing factors in rapid detection data,and integrating with appropriate injury evaluation indices for ultrasonic,magnetic leakage,and image detection data,a shallow surface flaw evaluation model of high-speed rails was established based on entropy weight method.Historical inspection datasets containing field-verified defects were normalized and fed into the model.Using ultrasonic,magnetic flux leakage,and image data from"High-speed Line A"as validation,the model-generated evaluations were compared against standard criteria.It was verified that the accuracy rate of on-site review of the rail superficial flaw evaluation results determined by the rail superficial damage evaluation model and evaluation criteria is 87.5%.Compared with the traditional magnetic flux leakage detection data,the field review accuracy of the shallow surface damage evaluation results of rails is 62.5%.The shallow surface flaw evaluation model and evaluation standard greatly improve the accuracy of on-site review of the shallow surface flaw evaluation of high-speed rails,which can effectively improve the efficiency of railway maintenance and repair department and reduce the operating cost of the railway lines.
