Collaborative optimization of urban rail train group schedules and rolling stock circulation considering flexible train composition

Abstract
As the urban rail transit network continues to expand and the passenger flow keeps increasing,issues such as the mismatch between train capacity and demand and excessively high operating costs have become more prominent.To improve train operation efficiency and reduce operating costs,a modeling method for the coordinated optimization of train group schedules and rolling stock circulation based on high-dimensional networks was proposed,considering the flexible formation and transformation characteristics of train groups.Specifically,for a dual-directional metro line with multiple depots and routes,the dynamic passenger demand,train group formation types,and spatiotemporal trajectories were constructed into a high-dimensional network model.Based on the high-dimensional network,an integrated mixed-integer programming model with multiple objectives was formulated to enhance passenger service quality and reduce operational costs,in which decision variables such as the number of spare rolling stocks at each depot,network path selection,and passenger flow distribution were set,and constraints such as train operation and passenger flow distribution,as well as depot capacity constraints,rolling stock balance constraints,and train-passenger flow coupling constraints were designed.To facilitate the solution,the model was transformed into a mixed integer linear programming model by introducing objective weight coefficients,and the commercial solver CPLEX® was used for solution.Finally,to verify the efficiency of the optimization method,a series of experiments were conducted based on the actual operation data of Beijing Metro Line 15.The experimental results show that the train purchase cost,operating cost,and total passenger waiting time of the plan considering train group operation mode with flexible formation transformation were reduced by 7.8%,17.1%,and 13.5%as compared to those of the actual operation plan,respectively.The above results indicate that the coordinated optimization of train group schedules and rolling stock circulation,considering flexible formation transformation,can effectively reduce operating costs and improve service levels.关键词
