Locating-Routing optimization of urban road-rail intermodal transportation network with consideration of customer attributes

Abstract
Under the external integration and internal distribution mode,the urban logistics based on road-rail intermodal transportation can effectively alleviate major issues such as traffic congestion and high energy consumption in large cities,driving the development of China's urban logistics systems towards intelligence,greenness,and efficiency.On such a basis and from a holistic perspective,this study comprehensively considered the key characteristics of logistics network nodes in megacities,including major logistics bases,existing railway freight stations,and last-mile distribution points,to construct a two-phase logistics site selection and route optimization model for urban road-rail intermodal transportation with the objective of minimizing transportation costs.In the first phase,based on the primary attributes of customers and by employing the elbow method,a weighted k-means clustering algorithm was utilized to adjust the impact of customer attributes during site selection and formulate various site allocation schemes.The second phase,grounded in the site selection plans devised in the first phase,examined inter-node connectivity and optimized the coordination of the scheduling of short-haul railway trains and urban freight vehicle routes under time-window constraints.Exact solutions for the optimization models under each site selection scenario were obtained using the CPLEX solver,thereby investigating the mechanisms by which customer attributes affect logistics costs and formulating the most cost-effective logistics plans.Empirical analysis results indicate that customer attributes have a significant influence on the operational efficiency and overall transportation costs of the logistics system,with varying degrees of impact depending on the specific attributes.Consequently,by appropriately managing the weights of customer attributes within the logistics system and devising scientifically efficient transportation strategies,it is feasible to reduce logistics costs effectively by 14%to 25%.This planning methodology and its derived conclusions provide theoretical support for optimizing large city logistics distribution patterns,facilitating the development and construction of urban logistics systems under the"External Integration,Internal Distribution,and Road-Rail intermodal Transportation"mode.关键词
