A Review on the Mechanism of Inverse Vulcanization and the Relationship between Reaction Conditions and Product Structure

Abstract
Inverse vulcanization is an emerging method for the preparation of polysulfides,using sulfur as the main component and unsaturated olefins as crosslinking agents.It offers advanta-ges such as simple reaction conditions,solvent-free and easy operation.The products of inverse vul-canization exhibit excellent properties due to the presence of dynamically exchangeable S—S bonds,but their structure and properties are greatly affected by reaction conditions such as temperature,time,catalysts,synthesis methods,and process parameters,which limit their widespread applica-tion.This article introduces various inverse vulcanization systems and their synthesis methods,in-cluding thermal inverse vulcanization,organometallic salt-catalyzed inverse vulcanization,photo-in-duced inverse vulcanization,and mechanically activated inverse vulcanization.It analyzes the effects of reaction conditions,such as the structure of organic monomers and feed ratios,reaction temperature,reaction pathway,and activation systems on the inverse vulcanization process and product properties.Furthermore,it explores the structural characteristics of inverse vulcanization products,reaction mechanisms,and the relationships between monomer composition,product structures,and reaction methods.Finally,this study summarizes current advancements and pro-vides a perspective on the future development of high-performance polysulfide materials via inverse vulcanization methods.关键词
