Fault Current Distribution of AC Power Grids with New Energy and Its Effect on Overcurrent Protection Setting

Abstract
When a short-circuit fault occurs in a power grid,the new energy has a bidirectional current source characteristic of outputting inductive current and absorbing inductive current,which makes the AC grid with new energy show a different fault current distribution characteristic from the traditional grid,and it may bring impact on the overcurrent protection rectification calculation.In order to make setting calculation adapt to the fault conditions with new energy,this paper studies the fault current distribution characteristics of AC grids with new energy sources,and then gives the quantitative conditions of new energy outputs with different fault current distributions,and discusses the influence of fault current distribution characteristics on overcurrent protection rectification.The simulation example demonstrates the correctness of the fault current distribution characteristics and quantitative conditions.关键词
