Correlation Between Flower Color and Floral Fragrance in Rosa rugosa'Fenghua Meigui'

Abstract
[Objective]The correlation between flower color and floral fragrance in Rosa rugosa'Fenghua Meigui'was investigated to promote the breeding improvement of floral fragrance and color of R.rugosa'Fenghua Meigui'and provide the scientific basis for its further reasonable and efficient development and utilization.[Method]The flower color parameters and volatile compounds in floral fragrance of R.rugosa'Fenghua Meigui'petals at six flowering stages of flower bud,early-open,semi-open,fully-open,full blooming and late-blooming were determined by the high-quality colorimeter and GC-MS respectively,and then the correlation between flower color and floral fragrance at six different flowering stages were analyzed.[Result]The color of R.rugosa'Fenghua Meigui'at six flowering stages was a*>0 and b*<0,and the color of the petals at six flowering stages all were purple-red.There was a certain difference in volatile compounds of floral fragrance at different flowering stages.There were 110,104,101,99,111 and 112 volatile compounds in floral fragrance of the petals at flower bud,early-open,semi-open,fully-open,full blooming and late-blooming stages respectively.95 volatile compounds coexisted the petals at two flowering stages of six flowering stages at least.The distribution of the coexisted volatile compounds was 55,64,54,54,67 and 61 at flower bud,early-open,semi-open,fully-open,full blooming and late-blooming stages separately.The common volatile compounds were divided into 7 groups including 11 alkanes,15 alkenes,18 aromatics,16 alcohols,9 aldehydes,10 ketones and 7 esters.The secondary volatile compounds included 4 acids,2 ethers,1 pyridine,1 amine and 1 azole.The main volatile components in floral fragrance of R.rugosa'Fenghua Meigui'were aromatics,alcohols,aldehydes and ester compounds.The relative content of aromatics,alcohols and other volatile components was 30.14,29.51 and 1.07-4.55 respectively.The main aromatics volatile components were eugenol and methyleugenol.The main alcohols volatile components were citronellol,geraniol,phenethyl alcohol,styracitol and so on.The main aldehydes volatile components were citral and valerian extract.There was no obvious correlation between color parameter and total amount of volatile floral fragrance compounds at six flowering stages.Total amount of aldehyde floral fragrance compounds was positively and significantly related to the b* value of the petals.The ester floral fragrance compound was positively and significantly related to the brightness value L*.There was a close correlation between citral and flower color parameter,which indicated that the purplish red of flower color darkened with increase of citral relative content and the brightness of flower color increased with increase of citral saturability.[Conclusion]The utilization value of R.rugosa'Fenghua Meigui'at full blooming stage is higher relatively.There is a certain correlation between the synthesis pathway of volatile floral fragrance compounds and flower color during the flowering process.关键词
