Abstract
Salmonella chromogenic medium have high accuracy and sensitivity,which can improve the detection efficiency and accuracy of Salmonella.However,due to differences in enzyme substrates and chromogenic groups used by different brands,the resulting colony characteristics vary.Therefore,it is crucial to conduct a performance assessment before use.This article provides a systematic evaluation of the overall performance of Salmonella chromogenic medium from three brands:Bio-rad,Luqiao,and CHROMagar.In testing against four target strains(Salmonella typhi,Salmonella enteritidis,Salmonella paratyphi A,and Salmonella enterica subsp.arizona),as well as four non-target strains(Escherichia coli,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Proteus mirabilis,and Enterococcus faecium),we observe both similarities and significant differences in chromogenic results of chromogenic medium from different.Regarding the performance of the target strains,non-lactose-fermenting Salmonella appears as colonies ranging from purple to purplish red.Whereas for Salmonella enterica subsp.arizona,which ferment lactose,the colonies behave differently on chromogenic medium from different brands.On Bio-rad culture medium,the colonies remain purplish red.On Luqiao and CHROMaga medium,they appear as a light bluish green color,which can easily be confused with that of Escherichia coli colonies.In terms of non-target bacteria performance,the performance of culture medium from various brands is similar.Through this overall performance evaluation,it aims to gain a deep understanding of the typical characteristics of Salmonella chromogenic medium from different brands in terms of Salmonella cultivation,thus ensuring the accurate and efficient detection of Salmonella in daily work.关键词
