Abstract
Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of dengue fever in Huadu District,Guangzhou, from 2014 to 2024,and to provide a scientific basis for formulating effective local prevention and control measures. Methods Dengue fever cases reported between 2014 and 2024 in a selected community were retrieved from the "Infectious Disease Surveillance" module of the Chi-na Information System for Disease Control and Prevention.Descriptive epidemiological methods were used to analyze the characteris-tics of the epidemic. Results From 2014 to 2024,a total of 141 dengue fever cases were reported in Huacheng Subdistrict,Huadu District,Guangzhou(no fatalities).Of these,119 cases(84.40%)were locally transmitted and 22 cases(15.60%)were imported.Among the imported cases,18(82.82%)were domestically imported and 4(18.18%)were from abroad-specifically,Cambodia,Panama,Thailand,and Dubai(1 case each). In terms of gender distribution, there were 70 male cases(49.65%)and 71 female cases(50.35%).The highest number of cases occurred in the 21-40 age group(50 cases,35.46%),followed by the 41-60 age group(47 cases,33.33%).Regarding occupation, the top three groups were retirees and unemployed homemakers(37 cases,26.24%),those in commercial services(22 cases,15.60%),and workers(18 ca-ses,12.77%).In terms of temporal distribution of the 141 cases, cases were reported year-round,with a peak between July and October(108 cases,76.60%),and October being the highest(45 cases,31.91%),followed by a decline beginning in November.Over 11 consecutive years of Aedes mosquito vector surveillance,a total of 3,092 indoor and outdoor small wa-ter-holding containers and areas of standing water were identified as potential breeding sites, with 492 positive for mosquito larvae, yielding a Breteau Index(BI)of 15.91.The main types of mosquito breeding sites were aquatic plants kept in idle containers, flowerpot trays, and disposable containers.Among all positive breeding sites, flowerpot trays had the highest number of both water-holding containers and positive containers for Aedes larvae(793 and 145,respectively),while idle containers had the highest BI,reaching 25.44.Conclusion From 2014 to 2024,dengue fever in Huadu District of Guang-zhou was mainly caused by local transmission, with imported cases predominantly from Southeast Asian countries.Aedes albopictus, the main vector, had diverse and abundant breeding sites. This indicates a high risk of local dengue outbreaks.Health authorities should remain vigilant, strengthen monitoring of imported cases, improve the surveillance network for A-edes mosquitoes, conduct risk assessments, and rigorously implement prevention and control measures.关键词
