A survey on knowledge, attitudes, and practices of general practitioners towards metabolic-associated fatty liver disease
摘要
Abstract
Objective To assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of general practitioners(GP)in Zhejiang Province regarding metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)and identify influencing factors. Methods A questionnaire sur-vey was conducted among 568 GPs in Zhejiang Province to collect data on their general information and their knowledge,at-titudes,and practices towards MAFLD.Univariate analysis was used to explore factors influencing GP's knowledge,atti-tudes,and practices. Results Overall,96.3%of GPs were aware of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),and 86.0%aware of MAFLD,but only 48.4%were aware that NAFLD had been renamed MAFLD.According to Bloom's cri-teria,only 0.9%of GPs had good scores in knowledge. The lowest three items in knowledge scores were in MAFLD diag-nosis(4.2%),treatment(15.0%),and management/follow-up(15.7%).A total of 90.0%of GPs had good scores in at-titude,and 77.8%had good scores in practice.Differences in attitude and practice scores among GPs of different ages were statistically significant(P<0.05).GPs who had received MAFLD-related training had significantly higher scores in terms of knowledge and practice than those who had not(P<0.05).Correlation analysis showed significant positive correlations between knowledge and attitudes, knowledge and practices, and attitudes and practices(P<0.05).Conclusion GPs have positive attitudes and practices towards MAFLD but lack sufficient knowledge. To maximize their role as health gatekeep-ers,it is essential to design and implement targeted continuing education on MAFLD for GPs.关键词
