Time-lag effects of primary productivity on dynamics of Katsuwonus pelamis population abundance at multiple spatial and temporal scales

Abstract
Skipjack tuna Katsuwonus pelamis is the main target of purse seine tuna fisheries in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean,with population abundance influenced by marine environmental factors and their lagged effects.Exploring the time-lag relationship between primary productivity and population abundance can help elucidate its ecological driving mechanisms.This article selected the fishing log data of China's tuna seine fishing vessels from 2013 to 2020,based on three abundance indicators:fishing yield(catch),standardized catch per unit effort(CPUE)and fishing set(effort),and established distributed lag linear models(DLLM)of primary productivity-population abundance with chlorophyll a(chl-a).The results showed:There was a significant lag relationship between chl-a and three abundance indicators;when the study adopted the time scale of 1d,2d,3d,4d and 5 d,the lag time of K.pelamis population abundance in response to chl-a had no obvious change pattern;when selecting the spatial scales of 0.25°×0.25°,0.5°× 0.5°,1°× 1°,2° × 2°,3°×3°,4° × 4° and 5° ×5°,the lag time intervals for the impact of primary productivity on K.pelamis population abundance were 0 d,0-2 d,1-4 d,2-6 d,3-7 d,5-10 d and 7-11 d respectively.This study shows that primary productivity has a lagging effect on changes in K.pelamis population abundance,and the extent of the lagging effect is closely related to the size of the regional space.关键词
