Effects of the superposition state of the Kuroshio and spawning ground location on the resource recruitment of Scomber japonicus in the Northwest Pacific

Abstract
The paper is to study the specific dynamic influence mechanism of the Kuroshio on Scomber japonicus transport distribution and recruitment in the Northwest Pacific.The spatial superposition of the main path of the Kuroshio and the spawning ground of S.japonicus in the Northwest Pacific may reveal the internal dynamic factors of the Kuroshio's influence on the early life history of S.japonicus in the area.In this study,we analyzed the influence of the physical environment in the Northwest Pacific due to the Kuroshio main current shifting on the changes of S.japonicus recruitment,as well as revealed its dynamic internal mechanism according to the typical superposition state of the position of the Kuroshio main current and spawning ground.Thus,it is possible to predict the annual recruitment of S.japonicus in the Northwest Pacific by using the superposition state of Kuroshio path and spawning ground in the middle and late April,and provide a theoretical basis for in-depth study of the dynamic relationship between climate events and the change of fishery resources in the Northwest Pacific.It was found that the recruitment of S.japonicus in the Northwest Pacific fluctuated greatly from 2008 to 2016.In April,the critical period for growth and recruitment of S.japonicus,the superposition state of Kuroshio and the spawning ground in the Northwest Pacific could be summarized into two typical situations:penetration state and detour state.When the Kuroshio flowed through the spawning ground in mid-April,a penetrating state formed,and the final resource recruitment of S.japonicus was generally high;when the Kuroshio meandered southward in mid-April and bypassed waters of the spawning ground,the final resource recruitment of S.japonicus was generally low.At penetration state,the individual transportation was slow,resulting in the short distance of eastward transportation and shallow water depth,and the distribution of the larvae was more concentrated near the Kuroshio side,leading to higher water temperature and higher growth rate.The detour state was the opposite.The superposition of the Kuroshio current and the spawning ground in April can be used to basically predict the quantity of S.japonicus resource recruitment in the Northwest Pacific in that year.关键词
