Qualitative study on cervical cancer screening decision-making experiences and needs based on the Ottawa decision support framework
摘要
Abstract
Objective To understand women's experiences and needs in cervical cancer screening decision-making and provide a basis for improving cervical cancer screening services for women. Methods A descriptive qualitative study based on the Ottawa Decision Support Framework was conducted from January to March 2024.Purposive sampling was used to select 13 women from the Gynecology Outpatient Department and Health Check-up Center of our hospital.In-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted to explore their decision-making experiences and needs, and content analysis was used to organize and analyze the interview data. Results Five themes and 13 sub-themes were summarized:decision-making cognition limita-tions(lack of cervical cancer and screening knowledge, limited access to effective knowledge sources);self-rights awareness(traditional patriarchal decision-making,self-decision-making,shared decision-making);factors influencing screening deci-sions(facilitating factors, hindering factors);multiple decision-making preferences(healthcare institutions, screening costs, screening items);and meeting decision-making support(screening information needs, shared decision-making be-tween doctors and patients,decision-making tools). Conclusion Women have multi-dimensional decision-making experi-ences and needs during cervical cancer screening. It is recommended that medical staff strengthen decision-making support and interventions for cervical cancer screening to meet wome's needs for participation in cervical cancer screening decisions.关键词
