Hierarchical NiCo-LDH/CC for Electrocatalytic Water-spltting into Hydrogen Coupled with Sulfur Production
摘要
Abstract
The NiCo-LDH/CC catalyst with a layered structure was synthesized in situ on a highly conductive carbon cloth substrate by a simply one-step hydrothermal method.Morphology and composition analysis were performed through SEM,XRD,and XPS characterization techniques.Electrochemical testing was conducted in an alkaline electrolyte solution containing sulfide ions.The results demonstrate that the open-circuit potential(SOR)of NiCo-LDH/CC is only-0.79 V vs.RHE,requiring only 0.37 V vs.RHE to achieve a high current density of 100 mA/cm2.Moreover,the reaction can be stably running for 72 hours without significant sulfur poisoning even in high concentration sulfide solutions.This catalyst exhibits high Faraday efficiency(>90%)for hydrogen production while simultaneously oxidizing and degrading sulfides on the anode side to produce sulfur as a valuable byproduct.In addition,the Pt/C‖NiCo-LDH/CC HER-SOR system in a two-electrode configuration achieves remarkably low energy consumption for hydrogen production at just 1.25 kW·h/m3.关键词
