Abstract

In order to explore the influence rules of the geomembrane defects on the upstream dam slope of the reservoir and the length of the horizontal damage on the downstream side on the safety and stability of the dam,this problem is studied through the finite element calculation and simulation method.The following conclusions are obtained:The occurrence of defects in the geomembrane on the upstream dam slope of the reservoir will cause seepage deformation of the embankment and lead to damage at the downstream toe of the dam.Moreover,the length of the damage at the downstream toe of the dam has a significant impact on the overall safety and stability of the dam.In addition,the defect area of the geomembrane on the upstream dam slope corresponding to the allowable seepage gradient at the seepage exit point of the dam slope is 0.45 square meters.Under the condition of this defect area,as the length of the downstream horizontal damage increases,the minimum safety and stability coefficient of the downstream slope will continuously decrease.The critical value of the length of the horizontal damage at the downstream toe of the dam,at which the dam structure becomes unstable,is 14.28 meters.The research results of this study can provide a reference for related projects.
