The Construction of a National Unified Market Empowers Integrated Urban-Rural Integrated Development:Mechanism Analysis and Threshold Effect Testing

Abstract
The construction of a national unified market and the integrated development of urban and rural areas are crucial components of modernization in the new era.Based on provincial panel data from 2001 to 2023,this study examines the impact and mechanisms of the national unified market construction on urban-rural integrated development.The findings reveal that a one-unit increase in the con-struction of the national unified market leads to a 0.06-unit improvement in urban-rural integrated development.Furthermore,this promoting effect varies with the level of national unified market construction and industrial structure.Sub-item analysis indicates that the unified construction of commodity,labor,and capital markets significantly promotes urban-rural integrated development.The na-tional unified market construction has a notable positive effect on economic,social,and spatial integration between urban and rural are-as,while its impact on lifestyle and ecological-environmental integration is less significant,though still somewhat positive.Mechanism and threshold effect analyses show that industrial linkage intensity partially mediates the relationship between national unified market construction and urban-rural integrated development,exhibiting a progressive nonlinear relationship with distinct heterogeneity.关键词
