Impact of parallel cabinet installation on the seismic performance of nuclear grade electrical cabinets

Abstract
Following the upgrade and retrofit of backup power systems in nuclear power plants,the charging and discharging equipment has been switched to a parallel electrical cabinet configuration.This installation method necessitates the re-certification of its seismic performance.The post-parallel assembly structure is complex,making finite element seismic analysis relatively challenging.To reduce the number of elements in the finite element modeling,the equivalent mass method is employed to simplify the electrical cabinet while maximally retaining the original cabinet's dynamic characteristics and mechanical properties.Modal analysis results indicate that the first six natural frequencies before and after parallelization exhibit minimal changes.In order to obtain the seismic response of the electrical cabinet,the dynamic response analysis based on response spectrum method sums up the seismic response values of various order modes of vibration within the structure.The Block Lanczos method is utilized for feature extraction from calculation results to obtain dynamic response parameters at typical locations of the electrical cabinet.The acceleration and displacement responses at the top of the weaker stiffness switch board(TB)cabinet,following parallelization,as well as the stress at the base of columns,show a significant reduction with the maximum tensile stress of bolts located at the connection between the direct-current(DC)distribution cabinet and the floor being less than one-third of the value prior to parallelization.This indicates an overall improvement in structural stiffness and seismic performance.The stress on connection pieces is checked and found to meet the design requirements.By utilizing seismic test results from similar equipment and applying the tri-directional acceleration values obtained from the top of cabinet in finite element analyses,the seismic performance of equipment is considered to comply with the requirements following parallelization.The overall structural stiffness improves post-parallelization,and enhances the seismic performance of combined structure with a corresponding decrease in dynamic response.关键词
