Effects of guanidinoacetic acid,Saccharomyces cerevisiae and cellulase complex on reproductive performance,nutrient apparent digestibility,and rumen fermentation parameters in ewes

Abstract
This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with guanidinoacetic acid(GAA),Saccharomyces cerevisiae,and cellulase complex(SCC)on the reproductive performance,nutrient apparent digestibility,and rumen fermentation parameters in ewes.Seventy-two crossbred ewes(Texel × small-tailed Han)with similar age,reproductive performance,and body weight(40.0±2.5)kg were randomly divided into six groups with three replicates per group and four ewes per replicate.The control group(Con group)was fed the basal diet,which was supplemented with 0.01%SCC in SCC group,0.03%GAA in GAA 1 group,0.06%GAA in GAA 2 group,and 0.03%GAA+0.01%SCC in Mixed 1 group.Mixed 2 group added 0.06%GAA+0.01%SCC.The pre-trial period lasted 10 days,and the formal trial lasted from July 1,2023,until 3 months post-mating.Compared with the Con group,the GAA 2 group showed significantly increased conception and multiple birth rates(P<0.05)and reduced stillbirth and single birth rates(P<0.05).The SCC group and Mixed 1 group exhibited significantly higher multiple birth rates(P<0.05)and lower stillbirth and single birth rates(P<0.05).The Mixed 2 group demonstrated significantly improved conception and multiple birth rates(P<0.05),earlier estrus onset(P<0.05),and reduced stillbirth and single birth rates(P<0.05).Regarding nutrient digestibility,the GAA 2 group significantly increased crude protein(CP)apparent digestibility(P<0.05),while the SCC group,Mixed 1 group,and Mixed 2 group significantly improved CP,neutral detergent fiber(NDF),and acid detergent fiber(ADF)apparent digestibility(P<0.05).In rumen fermentation,the GAA 2,Mixed 1,and Mixed 2 groups significantly elevated concentrations of ammonia nitrogen,microbial protein,volatile fatty acids,acetate,and propionate(P<0.05),and the SCC group significantly increased ammoniacal nitrogen and microbial protein levels(P<0.05).The study indicates that dietary supplementation with 0.06%GAA+0.01%SCC promoted estrus,improved conception and multiple birth rates,reduced stillbirth rate,enhanced nutrient apparent digestibility,and optimized rumen environment in ewes.关键词
