Abstract

As the world′s largest sweet potato growing country,the harvesting methods are still mainly manual and the level of mechanization is relatively low,which severely restrict the sustainable development of the industry.Therefore,there is an urgent need to break through the development bottleneck through the research and development of technical equipment.After systematically sorting out the research progress of sweet potato mechanized harvesting technology and equipment at home and abroad,and combining it with the current situation of the sweet potato industry in our country,it was found that the physical characteristics of sweet potatoes led to great difficulties in mechanized harvesting,the lack of a unified standard for planting agronomy,and significant regional differences in cultivation patterns,resulting in insufficient adaptability of mechanized operations.Limited investment in scientific research and a lagging R&D process led to a shortage of specialized harvesting equipment,which were the main existing problems.Moreover,the existing equipment generally had defects such as poor adaptability,low operation efficiency,and unstable harvesting quality,making it difficult to meet the needs of industrial upgrading.Therefore,it was recommended that the integration of agronomy and agricultural machinery be achieved by strengthening the breeding of varieties suitable for mechanization and the construction of a standardized cultivation system.Modular innovative design of core components should be carried out to improve the adaptability of the equipment to working conditions.Relying on policy support and capital investment,key technologies such as resistance reduction and loss reduction excavation,flexible sweet potato-soil separation,and intelligent sorting should be focused on and broken through.Finally,through the dual-drive of technological R&D and industrial promotion,the level of mechanized harvesting should be comprehensively improved to provide equipment and technical support for the construction of a modern sweet potato industry system.
