Research on the Spatial Differentiation,Convergence Trends,and Driving Factors of New Quality Productive Forces Development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt

Abstract
It is an inevitable choice to foster new quality productive forces in line with local conditions for promoting high-quality economic development in local areas.Understanding the spatial differentiation and evolution characteristics of the new productive forces in the Yangtze River Economic Belt is beneficial for cities to tailor their strategies for cultivating and developing these forces in line with local areas.Based on the panel data of 108 cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2012 to 2021,this paper systematically examines the spatial evolution characteristics and convergence effects of new quality productive forces in the Yangtze River Economic Belt by using exploratory spatio-temporal data analysis and spatial econometric models.The findings are as follows:(1)The development level of new productive forces in the Yangtze River Economic Belt has shown an upward trend over time,with significant positive spatial correlation among cities.In the local spatial structure of new productive forces,upstream and downstream areas exhibit relatively fluctuating spatial structures,while the central region remains more stable.During the transition process,the direction of local spatial shifts in most cities'new productive forces development remains relatively stable,with strong path dependence characteristics.(2)There is significant convergence in the development levels of new productive forces across the entire Yangtze River Economic Belt and its upstream,central,and downstream regions.Different cities show varying convergence speeds,with conditional convergence occurring noticeably faster than absolute convergence.(3)The main driving factors of the development of new productive forces vary across different spatiotemporal scales and exhibit some degree of spatial heterogeneity.关键词
