Abstract

Condensate water and formation water produced together with natural gas in the process of gas field development(hereinafter referred to as gas field produced water)is characterized by high rate,complex water quality,and great treatment difficulty.The use of gas field produced water for hydrogen production by electrolysis can achieve resource reuse of waste water while promoting the development of gas field hydrogen energy business.At present,the treatment cost of purified water is too high,which restricts the large-scale application of hydrogen production by electrolysis of gas field produced water.Based on five groups of produced water samples from the Sulige Gas Field in the Ordos Basin,this paper analyzes the water quality characteristics.Then,indoor pre-experiments are carried out,such as membrane tolerance,water replenishment,water treatment and electrolytic hydrogen production.Finally,the produced water is pre-treated via flocculation and settlement for 31 days of field test of hydrogen production by unpurified water electrolysis.The following results are obtained.First,the results of indoor experiments indicate that the water replenishment rate is about 0.06-0.1 g/(cm2·h),and No.1 water sample is the best in water replenishment effect.The calculation results based on the hydrogen production rate of 0.4 m3/h in the following field test show that the needed water volume and membrane area are 0.5 m2,respectively.Alum performs well in flocculation and settlement of 6 kinds of water samples.The removal rate of chemical oxygen demand(COD)in waste water exceeds 98%.Second,the on-site test results indicate that only simple and targeted pretreatment of high-salinity and high-COD gas field produced water can realize hydrogen production by unpurified water electrolysis with hydrogen purity reaching 99.999%,which meets the standards of following process chains such as hydrogen storage and utilization.In conclusion,this process technical route can effectively solve the problems in the treatment and destination of gas field produced water,and plays an important technical role in promoting the coordinated development of new energy and oil and gas industry chains.Looking forward,it is necessary to expand the test and application scales,and introduce green electricity and industrial high-integration and high-efficiency hydrogen production equipment,so as to reduce system energy consumption significantly,which has broad prospect of promotion and application.
