Simulation Study of Uranium Discharging Potential in Poor Organic Matter Mudstone and Its Geological Significance

Abstract
The uranium discharging potential of mudstone is a frontier issue concerned in the field of multi-energy synergistic resource accumulation in basins.Research on the uranium leaching potential of organic-rich mudstone has made significant progress,while the understanding of the uranium discharging potential of organic-poor mudstone,which has weak hydrocarbon generation capacity,remains relatively limited.Using closed-system thermal simulation experiments,we conducted thermal evolution simulations on organic-poor mudstone(including both types:those lacking organic matter and those containing a small amount of organic matter)to investigate the uranium discharging potential of organic-poor mudstone.The results indicate that organic-poor mudstone can also discharge uranium during thermal evolution.Within the temperature range of 50 to 400°C,the uranium expulsion ratio varies between 6.42%to 23.37%.Before reaching the temperature conditions necessary for organic matter to generate hydrocarbons,the discharge of uranium can enable the uranium concentration in the liquid-phase products to reach a certain level.The research findings establish a theoretical foundation for considering organic-poor mudstone as a source rock for uranium.We recommended to conduct in-depth studies on the mechanisms of uranium leaching from mudstone.关键词
