Research Progress on Mechanism of TCM in Treating Pulmonary Fibrosis by Regulating Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress

Abstract
Pulmonary fibrosis is a chronic interstitial lung disease characterized by excessive extracellular matrix deposition.Its onset is insidious,and the prognosis is poor.The average survival time is only 2-3 years,and effective treatment is still lacking.Although the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis has not been fully clarified,a large number of studies have confirmed that pulmonary fibrosis is related to endoplasmic retic-ulum stress.Endoplasmic reticulum stress can intensify the apoptosis of alveolar epithelial cells and promote epithelial-mesenchymal transfor-mation,which leads to pulmonary fibrosis.Therefore,inhibition of endoplasmic reticulum stress has become a new research direction for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis.Drug development in modern medicine is still mostly limited to the"single target-single molecule drug"mod-el,which is often difficult to achieve the expected effect for treating pulmonary fibrosis,a disease with complex etiology.However,traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis has the advantages of multiple targets and few toxic and side effects,and it has no ob-vious drug dependence,with great development potential.In this paper,the three pathways of endoplasmic reticulum stress,the factors leading to pulmonary fibrosis,and the intervention of traditional Chinese medicine were reviewed.The active components and compounds of traditional Chinese medicines such as RHODIOLAE CRENULATAE RADIX ET RHIZOMA,GINSENG RADIX ET RHIZOMA,SALVIAE MILTIORRHI-ZAE RADIX ET RHIZOMA,ASTRAGALI COMPLANATI SEMEN,Xiaoqinglong Decoction(小青龙汤),and Gualou Xiebai Decoction(瓜蒌薤白汤),as well as their mechanisms of regulating endoplasmic reticulum stress were described,so as to provide theoretical basis and re-search direction for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis by intervention of endoplasmic reticulum stress with traditional Chinese medicine.关键词
