The prognostic value of carcinoembryonic antigen,human epididymal protein 4,squamous epithelial cell carcinoma antigen,carbohydrate antigen 199 and carbohydrate antigen 125 in the assessment of patients with cervical cancer

Abstract
Objective To explore the value of serum levels of carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),human epididymal protein 4(HE4),squamous epithelial cell carcinoma antigen(SCC-Ag),carbohydrate antigen 199(CA199),and carbohydrate antigen 125(CA125)in the assessment of the prognosis of patients with cervical cancer.Methods 102 patients with cervical cancer were selected,received neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgical treatment,and were followed up for 3 years.According to the follow-up results,they were divided into the poor prognosis group(26 cases)and the good prognosis group(76 cases).The general data of two groups was compared,and serum levels of CEA,HE4,SCC-Ag,CA199 and CA125 in cervical cancer patients with different clinical characteristics of two groups were compared,the relationship between the above serum indexes in patients with cervical cancer and Karnofsky's functional status(KPS)scores was analyzed,and the predictive value of the above serum indexes in the prognosis of the patients with cervical cancer was analyzed.Results The score of KPS of the poor prognosis group was lower than that of the good prognosis group(P＜0.05),and the levels of CEA,HE4,SCC-Ag,CA199 and CA125 were higher than those of the good prognosis group(P＜0.05).The serum levels of CEA,HE4,SCC-Ag,CA199 and CA125 in cervical cancer patients with stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ,low differentiation and pelvic lymph node metastasis were higher than those in patients with stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ,medium-high differentiation and no pelvic lymph node metastasis(P＜0.05).The levels of serum CEA,HE4,SCC-Ag,CA199 and CA125 in patients with cervical cancer were negatively correlated with scores of KPS(P＜0.05).The receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC curve)analysis showed that the area under the curve(AUC)value of the combined detection of serum CEA,HE4,SCC-Ag,CA199 and CA125 for predicting the prognosis of patients with cervical cancer was 0.940,which was higher than that of the single detection of the five factors(0.807,0.757,0.766,0.745,0.784,P＜0.05).Conclusion Serum levels of CEA,HE4,SCC-Ag,CA199 and CA125 are highly expressed in patients with cervical cancer.These five factors can participate in the progression of the disease,and the combined detection of all five factors has a higher predictive value for the prognosis of patients with cervical cancer.关键词
