Abstract

A honeycomb sandwich structure water intrusion detection technology based on wireless passive forked capacitor sensor is pro-posed to address the problem that the honeycomb sandwich structure is susceptible to external influences during use,resulting in minor defects on the surface of the panel,which can cause water intrusion in the interior and affect its normal use.the technique is based on the principle of capacitive detection,combined with wireless power transmission,information is transferred by means of electromagnetic coupling,which enables better in-situ detection of water intrusion in honeycomb sandwich structures without contacting the target to be measured.Based on the equivalent circuit and impedance characteristics,detection mechanism of the sensor is analyzed,the method for measuring water intrusion using the half-resonance impedance point of the first resonant peak is also proposed.A signal conditioning module for the sensor is designed and a detection system is built to implement the technique.Experimental results show that the pro-posed wireless passive water intrusion detection technique is effective for the in-situ detection of water intrusion in honeycomb sandwich structures,there is a significant change of approximately 300 mV in the amplitude of the system output signal as the water intrusion of the honeycomb sandwich structure varies from 0%to 100%,and the relative fitting error is less than 2.5%,proving that the test tech-nique is able to achieve a comprehensive assessment of the water penetration status of the honeycomb sandwich structure.
