运用CSEOF研究分析北太平洋海平面低频变化
Utilizing Cyclostationary Empirical Orthogonal Functions to Study the Low-frequency Sea Level Variations in the North Pacific Ocean

Abstract
The traditional empirical orthogonal function decomposition has the problem of modal mixing and difficul-ty in uncovering the spatiotemporal evolution patterns of seasonal and ENSO periodic signals in sea level changes.Based on the satellite altimetry sea level anomaly data from January 1993 to May 2023,this study analyzed the spatiotemporal evolution patterns of interannual and decadal variation in sea level,as well as the influence of ENSO and PDO signals on its long-term trend in the North Pacific Oceans by using the cyclostationary empirical orthogo-nal function in meteorological data statistical analysis.The main conclusions are as follows:1)The interannual vari-ation of sea level in the North Pacific Ocean is most intense in autumn and winter,showing antiphase not only along the east-west direction in the tropical North Pacific Ocean,but also between the ocean basin edge and its inner re-gion in the North Pacific Ocean.2)The decadal variation of sea level is most pronounced in spring and least pro-nounced in autumn,and it is significantly smaller than its interannual sea level variation,showing antiphase be-tween the east-west direction of the tropical North Pacific Ocean and the central western part of the equatorial North Pacific Ocean from 0°~15°N,roughly forming a"saddle"structure.While between the central part of the North Pacific Ocean and the mid-low and mid-high latitudes of the North Pacific Ocean,the decadal variation in sea level is also antiphase,approximately forming a"sandwich"structure.3)The interannual variation in sea level in the North Pacific is highly correlated with the Nino3.4 index and is modulated by the PDO phenomenon.When the phase of the PDO index is out of phase with the Nino3.4 index or when the phase of the PDO index undergoes mul-tiple transitions during a stable phase of the Nino3.4 index,the interannual sea level anomalies in the North Pacific are not significant.The decadal sea level variations in the North Pacific are significantly correlated with the PDO index.When the PDO index changes from the warm phase from January 1993 to April 1998 to the cold phase from May 1998 to May 2023,the spatial distribution of the long-term trend of the decadal sea level variations in the en-tire North Pacific will undergo a complete reversal.The Kuroshio and its extension are the sea areas with the grea-test seasonal,interannual and interdecadal sea level variations in the North Pacific.关键词
