基于语料库的中国城市外宣话语策略研究
Corpus-Based Study on Discourse Strategies for Chinese Cities'External Publicity

Abstract
Against the backdrop of accelerating construction of China's discourse and narrative systems in the new era,the promotion of Chinese cities as vital components of the national image has become increasingly critical.This study,grounded in Fairclough's three-dimensional model theory,established a small corpus to conduct an in-depth analysis of external publicity news reports and promotional videos sourced from 11 major cities,including the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,the Yangtze River Delta,and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area,published on local government external publicity websites,China News Service,and People's Daily from 2020 to 2023.The research found that the term"building"was frequently utilized in these reports and videos to highlight urban characteristics,international cooperation,and the confidence and determination to step onto the global stage.As pivotal growth poles in the country's new strategic layout,the publicity materials of these cities aim to convey their unique advantages and business-friendly environments to an international audience,thereby shaping perceptions of the cities and conveying key messages.Therefore,to underscore the responsibility and commitment of Chinese cities in the process of building the image of a major power image,this study recommends adopting a multifaceted perspective and advocates careful lexical selection,transitivity,and modality in news discourse to foster high-quality development in external publicity and urban image communication efforts.The findings of this study hold significant theoretical and practical implications for understanding and optimizing the international communication strategies of Chinese cities.关键词
