On Strengthening Discipline Construction and Innovating Foreign Language Education:New Trends of China's Foreign Language Education Studies

Abstract
In January 2024,Foreign Language Education Studies(FLES)was officially established as a sub-discipline under the category of Foreign Languages and Literatures.In response to the discipline establishment,the 2nd FLES Forum was held,and participants engaged in lively discussions on the discipline construction and innovative reforms related to foreign language education(FLE)in China.Based on their findings,this article analyzes the latest trends in China's FLE research.Namely,the research on discipline construction focuses on the disciplinary connotations of FLE,teacher quality,talent cultivation,basic FLE,and the development of non-common FLE,etc.The research on innovation in FLE concentrates on teaching activities,textbook development,teacher psychology,educational technology,and teacher development communities,etc.And practical explorations in discipline construction center on FLE policies,translation education,FLE assessment,and ideological and political education in curriculum teaching,etc.These researches showcase the opportunities and challenges encountered in researching FLE and its discipline construction,with the aim of shedding light on academic reference for researchers and innovative inspiration for practitioners in the context of China's FLE.关键词
