Abstract

With the continuous increase in the single unit capacity of pumped storage units,the manufacturing difficulty of high-head large-scale ball valve valve shafts is increasing,and the quality requirements are becoming more stringent.To achieve robotic welding of large-scale pumped storage ball valves and reduce manual labor intensity,an innovative design of the valve shaft welding structure was carried out,transforming the conventional double-sided X-groove design into a narrow gap I-groove+artificial X-groove.Through the design of narrow gap welding torches and process tests,and the integration of robotic narrow gap welding systems,a mature set of robotic narrow gap MAG welding combined with manual welding technology was developed.It has been successfully applied to the welding of large-scale ball valve valve shafts,enhancing the welding efficiency and quality reliability of the valve shaft and reducing labor intensity.The total welding amount de-creased by 70.6%,welding efficiency increased fivefold,and the welding quality fully met the requirements,eliminating the need for post-welding repair of over-thick plates.
