摘要

Abstract

The mutagenic effects of Euryale ferox seeds by irradiation treatment were investigated,which could provide a reference for breeding new Euryale ferox varieties with high quality.60Co was used as the irradiation source,and different doses of γ-rays were used to treat the seeds of two kinds of species.They are purple flower E.ferox with thorns(CQ)and purple flower E.ferox no thorns(SQ),respectively.After that,the differences of fruit characters before and after irradiation were analyzed.The results indicated that CQ was more sensitive to irradiation than SQ at doses of 40~300 Gy,and the appropriate irradiation dose was 100~150 Gy and 200~300 Gy,respectively.After irradiation treatment,the flower color of CQ and SQ in the first generation did not change,but the fruits and seeds characteristics were significantly changed among their first generations.Compared with unirradiated seeds,the fruit weight,seed number and seed production in single fruit of the CQ-irradiated generation differ greatly between plants,with the coefficient of variation(CV)as high as 49.85%~55.43%,which is much higher than that of the SQ(CV is 20.21%~29.98%).Correlation analysis results showed that the seed diameters of the two kinds of E.ferox had significant positive correlations with seed diameter and seed shell thickness(P<0.01).There was a very significant positive correlation between SQ single fruit weight and the kernel diameter(R2=0.829 8),which was much higher than that of CQ.The results suggest that selecting big fruit type mutations is an effective way to breed new varieties of high-yield and large seed during SQ breeding.However,it would be more difficult to breed large fruit,big seed and thin-shelled new variety of CQ.
