Abstract

The water supply system with long-distance diversion pipelines usually varies greatly with terrain undulations.When a pump experiences a power failure,the water hammer generated in the pipeline will seriously threaten the safe operation of the water supply system.Water hammer calculation and protection are crucial for the safety and layout of the project.This article conducted water hammer calculations for Shanwei City's water supply project and reviewed the project layout.And the safe and reliable water hammer protection measures are proposed,meeting the needs of safe operation of the project.The results show that arranging intake and exhaust valves along the way,installing a surge tank behind the pump,setting up a surge tank in the middle,and installing a regulating valve at the end of the pipeline can effectively prevent water hammer during the water delivery process of this project.
