Abstract

Objective To explore the application effect of the service-learning model in higher vocational nursing education and its impact on the professionalism and political literacy of nursing students,aiming to provide effective teaching strategies for nurse training.Methods Two classes of the 2022 higher vocational nursing students from Fujian Health Vacational and Technital College were selected,and were randomly divided into a control group(n=50)receiving traditional teaching and an experimental group(n=50),undergoing a service learning pilot program.Empirical research methods,combining qualitative and quantitative analyses,were used to compare course performance and ideological and political literacy between the two groups.Results The comprehensive performance of nursing students in the experimental group was significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.05).Reflective journals show that nursing students not only deepen their understanding of professional knowledge but also enhance their ideological and political literacy.Conclusions The service-learning model,by providing practical platforms and guiding reflective thinking,helps nursing students develop patient-centered professionalism and care ethics.It effectively promotes the improvement of ideological and political literacy,and offers valuable insights for cultivating highly qualified nurses who possess both skill and humanity.
