Abstract

Objective To explore the effectiveness of 7E teaching mode in clinical education for nursing students in the Department of Respiratory Medicine.Methods 30 nursing interns who undertook clinical training in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical University from March to November 2023 were assigned to the control group and received traditional teaching.Another 30 interns who trained from December 2023 to July 2024 were assigned to the experimental group and adopted instruction based on the 7E teaching model,which includes elicit,engage,explore,explain,elaborate,evaluate,and extend.The scores of final theoretical and practical examination,self-directed learning ability,empathy,and attitudes toward communication skills were compared between the two groups.Results At the end of the internship,the experimental group scored significantly higher than the control group in theoretical knowledge,autonomous learning ability,empathy ability and positive attitude of communication skills(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference between the two groups in operation performance and negative attitude of communication skills(P>0.05).Conclusions 7E teaching mode is helpful to improve the teaching effect of clinical practice,enhance the independent learning ability and empathy ability of nursing students,and improve the communication skills and attitudes.
