Abstract

This paper utilizes radiation observation data from national meteorological stations to validate and correct the total radiation data retrieved from the FY-4A satellite.Using the corrected data,the study investigates the refined spatial distribution characteristics of solar energy resources in Ningxia.The results show that the hourly average total irradiance of FY-4A pixels is generally higher than the observation values from meteorological stations,especially during the summer and autumn seasons.The correlation coefficient of the annual average hourly total irradiance between the meteorological stations and FY-4A is 0.6 to 0.7,which passes the confidence test at α=0.01.The total irradiance retrieval values in the afternoon are higher than those in the morning.The average deviation of different irradiance levels decreases as the levels increase,with significant negative deviations in winter and noticeable positive deviations in summer.After correction by using a linear regression model,the error in FY-4A retrieved total radiation significantly reduces,with the mean absolute error decreasing from over 180 W·m-2 to approximately 10 W·m-2,and the correlation coefficient significantly increases.After analyzing the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of total solar irradiance in Ningxia with the corrected FY-4A data,it is found that the annual total solar irradiance distribution is higher in the north and lower in the south,ranging from 6 000 to 6 200 MJ·m-2 in the northern part of the region,5 900 to 6 000 MJ·m-2 in the central part of the region,5 500 to 5 900 MJ·m-2 in the southern part of the region.Seasonal variations are remarkable,peaking in summer and reaching a minimum in winter.
