Abstract

The wavelet transform method was used to analyse the time series data of soil volumetric water content at different depths from 2021 to 2023 in Wuming area,Guangxi,to explore its periodicity characteristics and its correlation with meteorological factors(temperature,relative humidity and precipitation).The results showed that the soil volumetric water content had significant main cycles in short,medium and long time scales,and the cycle in long time scale gradually increased with the increase of soil depth,and the soil volumetric water content tended to stabilise.50 cm depth was the intermediate active layer,and the duration of the cycle appeared to have aturning point in the 50 cm layer,which became shorter and then longer.The top layer of soil(10 cm and 20 cm)showed strong cyclicity in medium time scale,while the deep soil(80 cm,100 cm)had more significant periodicity in the long time scale.The meteorological factor that had the largest positive correlation with volumetric soil water content at 10 cm was precipitation,followed by relative humidity,while temperature had the smallest effect and a negative correlation.The effect of meteorological factors on soil water content was more significant at long time scales.
