Mechanical properties and interface morphology of fully geopolymer-made recycled coarse aggregate concrete

Abstract
Aiming to efficiently address the accumulation of construction waste and promote the development of low-carbon cementitious materials,this study investigates the properties of geopolymer-made recycled coarse aggregate(GRCA)and its application in fully geopolymer-made recycled concrete(FGRC).Fly ash and other solid wastes were utilized to prepare natural geopolymer concrete as the matrix,which was then crushed to produce GRCA.These aggregates were then used to replace natural coarse aggregates at varying replacement rates for FGRC fabrica-tion.The results demonstrate that the mechanical properties of FGRC generally surpass those of traditional cement-based recycled concrete,maintaining high strength even at higher replacement rates.Microscopic analyses via scanning electron microscopy revealed that a"secondary geopolymerization"occurs between GRCA and the fresh geopolymer matrix.This unique mechanism densifies the interfacial transition zone(ITZ)in FGRC,transforming the weak ITZ observed in traditional cement-based recycled concrete into a more compact structure,thereby sub-stantially enhancing the mechanical performance of FGRC.关键词
