Simulative study on plutonium mass measurement using neutron multiplicity of a pulse source
摘要
Abstract
To integrate a pulsed neutron source into the neutron multiplicity counting method,we introduce the dif-ferential die-away technique to explore its potential combination with the counting method.A simulation model of the PROMATHEE 6 differential attenuation measurement system was constructed using the Geant4 toolkit,with per-formance verification and parameter selection completed.By establishing a scaling relationship between the induced fission rate and the induced fission rate per unit effective 239 Pu mass,the neutron multiplicity counting analysis method was employed to simulate the mass of special nuclear materials within the pulse interrogation interval.The results demonstrate that,based on the differential die-away technique,the neutron multiplicity counting method can accurately estimate the mass of 239 Pu metal samples with a mass enrichment of 93.89%.For plutonium metal sam-ples with a 239 Pu mass ranging from 0.01 to 10 g,the relative deviation between the simulated results and the actual effective 239 Pu mass initially decreases and then increases,with a maximum deviation not exceeding 25%.The effects of the multiplication coefficient,multiplicity moment,and gate width on mass accountancy results are signifi-cant and cannot be overlooked.These findings offer valuable reference data for applying pulsed neutron sources in neutron multiplicity counting methods and contribute meaningfully to advancements in nuclear safeguard measure-ment technology.关键词
