摘要

Abstract

China has a wide variety of industrial categories,resulting in a large amount of refractory industrial wastewaters.How to efficiently and economically treat refractory wastewaters has become a focus of attention for many scholars.Anaerobic digestion technology is widely used in industrial wastewater treatment due to its advantages such as high load,low cost,and the ability to achieve energy recovery.However,for refractory wastewaters,conventional anaerobic technologies have the problem of low extracellular electron transfer efficiency,making the hydrolysis and acidification process of refractory pollutants a rate limiting step.Exogenous electron shuttles can enhance electron transfer between microorganisms and pollutants,making it a feasible anaerobic enhancement strategy.This study reviewed the acting mechanism of endogenous electron shuttles and the classification,acting mechanism,modification and immobilization of exogenous electron shuttles,as well as their application in anaerobic treatment of refractory wastewaters(azo dye wastewater,halogenated wastewater,nitroaromatic hydrocarbon wastewater,and other wastewaters).In addition,this study provides a prospect for the research direction of enhancing anaerobic treatment of refractory wastewaters using exogenous electron shuttles.
