Abstract

In addressing challenges related to high energy consumption and low efficiency in utilizing microalgae for biogas slurry resource utilization under cold conditions,six microalgae strains adaptable to 15℃ were screened.Their tolerance to NH4+-N and pollutant removal from biogas slurry were investigated.The release mechanisms of the low-temperature inhibition were also explored.At 15 ℃,the six strains could tolerant 400 mg·L-1 NH4+-N,and the biomass concentration reached 204.67~223.79 mg·L-1.Chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,and carotenoid concentrations ranged from 4.77~5.84,1.73~2.23,and 1.46~2.09 mg·L-1,respectively.NH4+-N and TP removal ranged from 44.09%~47.02%and 6.63%~15.60%,respectively.After 10 days'cultivation,Chlamydomonas(W-4)exhibited the highest biomass(223.79 mg·L-1)and NH4+-N(47.02%)and TP(15.60%)removal.The total chlorophyll,chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,and carotenoids concentration were 8.07,5.84,2.23,and 2.09 mg·L-1,respectively,which increased by 17.09%~55.81%,7.66%~9.49%,264.49%~437.93%,35.89%~42.88%,46.97%~47.87%,13.48%~31.27%,and 31.21%~42.73%compared with polar Stichococcus antarticus and common Chlamydomonas,respectively.The enhanced carotenoid content in the screened microalgae suggested that the mitigation of the oxidative stress(ROS)damage in microalgae cells at low temperatures by the high nutrient levels might be the main reason for promoting the microalgal biomass concentration.Results revealed that the screened strains exhibited high tolerance to the low-temperature and high NH4+-N concentration.The growth period was shorter than the other previous species,which providing valuable genetic resources for cold region in microalgae cultivation and biogas slurry utilization.
