Influence of Heat Accumulation on the Microstructure and Performance of TiC/Ti6Al4V Composite by Laser Melting Deposition

Abstract
Titanium matrix composites are widely used in the field of aviation.It is important to study the microstructure and properties of aviation materials.In this paper,TiC/Ti6Al4V titanium matrix composites were prepared by laser melting deposition(LMD).The effect of heat accumulation caused by the increase of deposited layers on the microstructure and microhardness of the composites was investigated by finite element numerical simulation.The effects of heat accumulation on the morphology and microstructure of multilayer samples were analyzed by simulating the temperature field during LMD.The results show that the initial deposited layer has a high cooling rate,resulting in insufficient flow of the molten pool and small formation width of the deposit.With the increase of the number of deposited layers,the heat accumulation effect inside the deposited layers increases,the melting pool temperature of the new deposited layer increases,and the ability of trapping powder increases.Therefore,the width of the deposited layer increases.The resulting shape is thin at the bottom and wide at the top.In addition,the increase in the number of deposited layers leads to an increase in the peak temperature and a decrease in the cooling rate of the molten pool.This promotes the dissolution of TiC powder particles,resulting in an increase in the in-situ TiC content and the hardness of the composite.关键词
