Digital Economy and Environmental Pollution Improvement
摘要
Abstract
The advantage of digital economy lies in improving productivity and promoting change in production mode.It is worth studying whether digital economy is conducive to improving environmental pollution.Using the urban-level panel data from 2009 to 2023,this paper assesses the improvement effects of digital economy on urban environmental pollution.The research has found that digital economy significantly promotes the improvement of urban environmental pollution,and further facilitates this improvement by reducing coal and fuel consumption in industrial enterprises.Mechanism analysis shows that digital economy has promoted the improvement of urban environmental pollution by promoting industrial upgrading,green innovation,and resource allocation effect.The pollution improvement effect generated by digital economy is more evident in medium and small-sized cities,mainly due to the spatial spillover effect of technology upgrade in digital economy,not because of the industrial transfer effect by digital economy.This article provides new perspective on explaining the non-economic benefit of digital economy development and broadens thinking on further advancing environmental governance.关键词
