Thermal Properties of Steel Slag Asphalt Surface Layer Based on Microtopography and Element Composition

Abstract
To study the influence of the microtopography and elemental composition of steel slag aggre-gates on the thermal physical properties of asphalt mixtures and the variation law of the internal tempera-ture field of the steel slag asphalt surface layer,firstly,this paper analyzed the microtopography of steel slag aggregates from different sources and obtained the elemental composition through SEM scanning electron microscopy and EDS energy spectrometer.Then,a self-developed measurement sys-tem was used to determine the thermal properties of steel slag asphalt mixture.Combined with the fi-nite element analysis software,a steel slag asphalt surface layer model was established to analyze the variation law of the internal temperature field of the surface layer under the high-temperature condi-tions in summer.The results show that the hot-pouring process for treating steel slag results in more surface aging crystallization products,greater roughness and more micropores.Steel slag from differ-ent origins contains a large amount of O and Ca elements,and the O element is generally higher than the Ca element,especially in the steel slags treated by the hot-pouring process,which is more obvious.At the same time,the composition proportion of metal element also varies greatly.The heat transfer performance of some hot-poured steel slag with a relatively high content of metal elements is lower than that of hot-sealed steel slag with a relatively low content of metal elements.During the heat ab-sorption process in the day,the internal temperature of the surface layer decreases with the increase of depth and is positively correlated with the thermal conductivity and thermal diffusion coefficient of the material.During the heat release process at night,the internal temperature of the surface layer increas-es with the increase of depth and is positively correlated with the specific heat capacity of the material.The research results indicate that the heat transfer performance of steel slag asphalt mixture is more in-fluenced by the microtopography of steel slag than by its elemental composition.Moreover,the heat transfer performance is inversely proportional to the heat storage capacity.The temperature distribu-tion within the surface layer changes in opposite directions during the day and night.关键词
