Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of occult breast cancer and the causes of misdiagnosis.Methods From March 2022 to March 2023,the clinical data of 2 patients with occult breast cancer misdiagnosed by ultrasound at early stage were retrospectively analyzed.Results One patient with well-differentiated adenosquamous carcinoma of the esophagus was found to have two enlarged lymph nodes in the left axilla by reexamination more than 1 year after operation,which were misdiag-nosed as metastatic lymph nodes related to esophageal cancer after ultrasound examination.The diagnosis of occult breast cancer was confirmed by ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration and pathological examination.The misdiagnosis lasted 6 months.One patient was admitted due to axillary pain for 3 months,and ultrasound examination showed a solid mass in the right axillary accessory breast and at the edge of the accessory breast,which was misdiagnosed as fibroadenoma in the right axillary accessory breast and in the ac-cessory breast.After ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy,the patient was diagnosed with occult breast cancer,and the misdiagno-sis lasted 6 d.One patient underwent left mastectomy and axillary lymph node dissection,and the other patient underwent modified radical mastectomy for right breast cancer and right axillary accessory breast resection.Both patients received standard chemotherapy after operation,were followed up for 1.0-1.5 years,and recovered well without recurrence or metastasis.Conclusion The onset of occult breast cancer is insidious,and axillary lymph node metastasis is generally the initial manifestation.The misdiagnosis rate can be effectively reduced by strengthening physicians'understanding of occult breast cancer,mastering the key points of diagnosis and differential diagnosis,comprehensively analyzing the condition,and performing specific examinations as early as possible.关键词
